While this is a somber day because it focuses upon the suffering and death of Jesus on the cross, it is also a day of hope! For not only do we remember that Jesus died BECAUSE OF our sins, but we also remember that he died FOR our sins. This day is “good” because of what Jesus did for us and for all people. And yet it is also a reminder of what it cost God to love us unconditionally. Between the 4 Gospels, the evangelists record Jesus speaking seven separate times while dying on the cross.
